On Monday, 13.11.2023, the Department of "Music and Movement in Rehabilitation and Education for Disabled People" of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences organized the "Symposium: Inclusive Music" at TU Dortmund University. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., around 75 interested people took the opportunity to exchange ideas, meet, network and be inspired on the topic of "inclusive music".

After the welcome address by Prof. Dr. Susanne Quinten and a keynote speech by Matthias Bolha and Dr. Meike Wieczorek on the topic of "Musicians' self-image and image of others - a film and research project", the participants worked in three parallel workshops on "Band work in schools" (Felix Piltz), "Inclusive music at music schools" (Claudia Schmidt) and "Music, inclusion and cooperation" (Magdalena Neuendorf and Julia Hülsken) on ideas and impulses from the practical field.
After the lunch break and further time in the workshops, the band "Collective One" enriched the day at 4.00 pm. Before the concert, Angelika Neuse received the "Engagement Award NRW of the Month November" from Birgit and Matthias Blind, regional ambassadors of the NRW Foundation, for the TONSTUDIO 13 project of the Gesamtkunstwerk e.V. association. A great award at the end of a successful day. The symposium was framed by the impressive exhibition "Musicians in photos". Oskar Neubauer provided 66 of his impressive photographs and gave a personal account of his many years of work in the context of music and inclusion.
