By car

The campus of the technical university Dortmund is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the A45 Sauerland line crosses the B1/A40 Ruhr expressway. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association, and DSW21 also offer an interactive route network map.

By H-Bahn

The H-Bahn is one of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Centre via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By flight

From Dortmund Airport, it takes just over 20 minutes to get to Dortmund Central Station with the AirportExpress and from there to the university with the S-Bahn. Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometres away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

Music making ability

Since autumn 2019, the importance of music-making skills has been a new project of the Department of Music and Movement in Rehabilitation and Pedagogy in Disability.

Cooperation project with special schools with the focus on mental development and music schools in the surrounding cities of Dortmund.
At the interface of school and extracurricular musical support for pupils, teachers and music school teachers are interested in joint work processes around the topic of school band. The aim is to work out what the ability to make music means in the context of so-called mental disabilities.
The project was successfully completed and awarded the "Best Practice Award" of the Association of German Music Schools in the context of "Kultur macht Stark".
Thanks to the generous donation of €10,000 by the Leo Club Dortmund "Florian", in the future the young and older patients on the wards will also be able to draw and make music digitally, for example. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for supporting the project through the Advent calendar campaign!
