The digital conference Research Lab Mixed Abled Dance 22 took place at TU Dortmund University on 12 February 2022. The aim of the event was to offer researchers in the field of Mixed Abled Dance (MAD) as well as those interested in research from German-speaking countries a platform for exchange and networking.

MAD stands for a variety of contemporary dance in which people with the most diverse physical-motor, cognitive, communicative and emotional prerequisites dance together. Due to its great creative and innovative potential, MAD has developed into an exciting object of research, which was reflected in the broad spectrum of research topics and projects presented [Detailed information can be found in the Tagungsprogramm and in Abstractband and under the Link zur Tagungshomepage].

Two plenary sessions complemented the eleven scientific contributions. In the first plenary session, the question of how to bring together the different actors in MAD (dance providers, participants, funders, institutions, researchers, etc.) was discussed at length. In the second plenary session, the participants exchanged their expectations for research on MAD. The next step is to network researchers at the university level with the participation of experts in their own field.

Three "dance breaks", performed by dancers from the Ich bin O.K. Tanzcompany, Vienna and led by Mia Sophia Jabado-Bilitza, provided a moving framework in which the approximately 70 participants were able to clear their heads between the individual lecture blocks for the subsequent sessions.

The conference was organised by the Department of Music and Movement in Rehabilitation and Education [MuB] under the direction of substitute professor Dr Susanne Quinten, in cooperation with the Society for Dance Research gtf, Aktion Tanz, Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Tanz NRW and the mixed abled dance company DIN A13. The research laboratory Mixed Abled Dance 22 follows on from the conference on the topic of "Dance Diversity Inclusion", which was also held in Dortmund in 2017.
