School band work with a focus on intellectual development

In July 2024, Felix Piltz began a research project in the field of music and movement in rehabilitation and education for people with disabilities as part of his secondment and teaching position at TU Dortmund University. The long-term goal is to create a handbook for teachers with recommendations for action and practical examples to adopt and continue working with.

• Initial thoughts on the objectives of the study were set out, appropriate methods discussed
• literature research was carried out, consultations were held with research institutions in the department
• A first insightful colloquium was held
• Implementation of a KuBi seminar, which works on the content of the research project - Creation of posters to secure the results
• Assignment of a Bachelor's thesis, from which essential focal points and approaches are to be derived
• Current considerations: Change from a questionnaire study to an interview study with a smaller sample → opportunity for more accuracy - may be more targeted
