By car

The campus of the technical university Dortmund is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the A45 Sauerland line crosses the B1/A40 Ruhr expressway. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association, and DSW21 also offer an interactive route network map.

By H-Bahn

The H-Bahn is one of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Centre via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By flight

From Dortmund Airport, it takes just over 20 minutes to get to Dortmund Central Station with the AirportExpress and from there to the university with the S-Bahn. Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometres away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.

Participation of project group 1.4 in the "Innovation sprint against social loneliness" at Greenhouse.Ruhr Dortmund on 30.11.2023

The members of project group 1.4, led by Dr. Yoon-Sun Huh, recently attended the "Innovation Sprint against Social Loneliness" event at Greenhouse.Ruhr in Dortmund. The event focused on the problem of social loneliness, with an entire day dedicated to an intensive discussion of research on this topic. In addition to the theoretical discussion of the topic, the group also gained insights into its practical implementation in various fields of action.

The realization that social loneliness not only affects older people, but people of all ages, became particularly clear during the event. The group not only gained a comprehensive perspective on the various aspects of the topic, but also recognized the significant impact of loneliness on health.

The project team is focusing on developing a research concept for exercise-oriented health promotion in older people affected by social isolation and loneliness. The aim of the research is not only to shed light on the causes and effects of loneliness, but also to develop concrete measures to promote psychosocial health in practice.

Project group 1.4 shows outstanding commitment and interest in the topic as part of the project studies and aims to make an important contribution to research into social loneliness and health promotion in old age.
