Creability Practical Guide - Creative and Artistic Tools for Inclusive Cultural Work

How are artistic-creative methods and exercises to be redesigned in such a way that they are practically accessible and applicable for people with the most diverse conditions? - This question was explored by over 130 art and culture professionals with and without disabilities in Germany and Greece as part of the international project CREABILITY. In several workshops and artistic laboratories between June 2018 and December 2019, this process was moderated and scientifically accompanied by the Department of Music and Movement in Rehabilitation and Education (Head: Dr. Susanne Quinten).

The result is a handbook with a selection of the 31 best practice-tested creative tools for multipliers in youth work, social work and disability support, teachers and (rehabilitation) pedagogical professionals as well as artists. The collection of tools is intended to encourage people to design their own offers in an inclusive way. A compilation of the most important general guidelines for the planning and implementation of tools as well as concrete checklists for inclusive cultural offerings provide further practical advice. The practical information is supplemented by texts on inclusion in cultural education and on the research activities carried out.

Location & approach

The campus of the technical university Dortmund is located near the Dortmund West motorway junction, where the A45 Sauerland line crosses the B1/A40 Ruhr expressway. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association, and DSW21 also offer an interactive route network map.

 

The H-Bahn is one of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Centre via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

From Dortmund Airport, it takes just over 20 minutes to get to Dortmund Central Station with the AirportExpress and from there to the university with the S-Bahn. Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometres away, offers a wider range of international flight connections and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station.
